Running a charity business is tough, particularly in the current climate - almost 20% of charities have closed since COVID, many due to the huge reduction in funding opportunities and the increased needs in terms of cost of living, poor mental health and other challenges that have intensified over the last 5 years.
It is more important than ever to ensure that your organisation has the foundations right, is fit for purpose and focussed on the future. I have a true passion and commitment to the sector and recognise the vital importance of the work charities do and the support they need to thrive. Starfish was set up in 2014 to provide this support in a bespoke, tailored and interactive way, using my skills and experience and working with you to identify and address the challenges your organisation might be facing. ​​
Katie Holland
I'm Katie Holland and I am a charity and social enterprise specialist. I have worked in the charity and not for profit sectors for the last 15 years, 10 of these as a social enterprise founder and CEO. I have won a number of awards for social entrepreneurship and creating impact in the sector and in 2020 I was named as one of the Natwest Top 100 'Women of Inspiration in Social Enterprise (WISE)'
I am a qualified Action Learning Facilitator, CMI Level 7 Leadership Coaching and Mentoring qualified, double Fellow of the School of Social Entrepreneurs and I am highly skilled in fundraising, business planning, financial modelling, impact measurement, coaching and mentoring. ​​​

​Starfish offers a range of support services that are designed to truly focus on what you want and need - my sessions are interactive and practical, I work WITH you to identify your needs and help you to address them. I can also design workshops and training days to suit your needs, delivered either face to face or remotely.
I believe that the process of organisational resilience starts from deep with the organsiation, with mission and values, everything else grows from there.
The work I do is focused from the inside out, starting with understanding why and how the organsiation is there, what's not working and how can we improve it to make it fit for the future.

I have a 15 year background in fundraising and income diversification and can support you to raise funds through grants, trusts & foundations, donations and social investment. I have significant experience in working with charities to diversify their income streams and can also support in the set up trading arms for income generation.
How healthy is your organisation? Many of the challenges people face are rooted in the basics and identifying where there might be sticking points and areas for development can help unlock roots to growth and financial sustainability.
